Need Suggestions
by irishayes ina jw spammer just jumped onto a medical message board that i belong to.
i would like to have some suggestions for posting to her.. her topic was (i'm sure you can almost guess what her topic was) "you can live forever in paradise.".
i need to be respectful of her because the board is moderated very closely and putdowns will not be tolerated, but i'd like some suggestions for questions i can ask her.. okay?

Well, I?m not at all surprised by your response, Bastiaan. Its somewhat typical of a reaction from those whom I see who come to discussion boards such as this (either by accident or design) and spout out JW rhetoric, only to run away when someone confronts and challenges them about what they believe. It?s not only typical, but to be expected. You don?t come off as bored, but instead threatened.
Keep telling yourself if you like, that YOU (notice the big YOU) are making the decisions in your life and not the Watchtower Society. However, we here who have been in your shoes (and in my case before you were born), don?t kid ourselves about such things. We realize that you as a Jehovah?s Witness, have very little choice or say in the matter about what you can do, who you can speak to, what you can read, what you can believe, what you can think, even right down to what medical treatments you can or can not receive. You?re only deluding yourself to believe otherwise. Would you be willing to die rather than accept a life sustaining blood transfusion? You know, it also used to be against Watchtower policy to accept organ transplants, but the Society reversed its decision and now it?s perfectly acceptable. Is this the kind of leadership you would be willing to lay down your life for? What if you need blood today, and tomorrow they reverse their decision on the blood issue like they did on organ transplants? That you would be willing to die rather than accept a blood transfusion, speaks to the kind of mind control that people refer to when it comes to cultic group(s) such as the Watchtower Society, Bastiaan. Maybe you don?t see it this way at this point, but that?s only because you choose not to. That?s about the only real choice you have.
Well, you have to follow your path as you go through your life. I can only hope that I have maybe planted a seed in your mind that one day may take root. You only have the one life Bastiaan, don?t live it for a group, live it for yourself.
Good luck,
Steve

Well, that was a quick reply.
I believe you when you say you are a baptized, active JW. I need to know that kind of thing up front, as it can be a waste of time (of both yours and mine) if you aren?t a JW and yet are taking the position of defending the faith, as it were. Thank you for that answer.
Next, are you going to continue to dialogue with me even though we both realize you have been instructed by the Watchtower Society to not exchange dialogue with someone who has left the Society and who is opposed? I believe the vernacular is, "left the Truth". And so that you know up front, I am most definitely opposed to the Watchtower Society. Let?s be clear on this point.
As to your age, I thought you had said you were twenty-four, but I read back and its twenty-two. At my age that?s of little consequence, but I stand corrected, Bastiaan.
I am not familiar with Perthes sickness, but I am glad you have recovered from it. Good for you.
I?m glad to hear you don?t take everything for granted you hear at the meetings, that?s good. Is there anything you are currently hearing that you disagree with? Has there ever been something you disagree with, regarding the Society and it?s teachings?
What do you think would happen if you ever disagreed with the Watchtower Society on a particular issue? Do you think you would be allowed to remain a Jehovah?s? Witness if you disagreed with the Watchtower Society concerning its doctrines? Are there any doctrines that you disagree with?

Hey Cloud,
Are you a baptized active Jehovah?s' Witness and in good standing? If you are, then why do you visit a website such as this, which obviously opposes the Watchtower Society, and where there are known "apostates"? (like me) Are you questioning? Have you been disfellowshipped? I see you don't use your real name. Are you afraid of being discovered? What?s your story?
I was raised a JW and made the decision to leave in my early twenty?s, just about the about the time you were born (if you?re twenty-four). As for me, I like to keep my hand in by visiting here and help those who may be struggling with leaving the Watchtower Society or perhaps those like you who may be questioning.
Your turn . . .

The Missing Link - remains of the Nephilim?
by truthseeker infor those of you that have seen recent documentarys (i can't remember the program names), there seems to be a few finds of importance regarding man's earliest ancestors.. .
one documentary i watched was about the discovery of an unusual skeleton, they suggested it was a bipedal - it walked on two legs.
but, the jaw and other parts of the skeleton were not completely human like.. .

Junction-guy,
I understand your frustration, it can be normal and even expected to feel this way when hearing JW?s try and defend the Watchtower Society, as well as their "own" religious convictions. In time however, this feeling will diminish.
I don?t know where you are in the process of disassociating yourself from the Watchtower Society (mentally, emotionally, etc.). But when the day comes you finally realize you are right (and, on all levels) and the Jehovah?s Witness is wrong, you will at that point find yourself not getting upset at all when hearing their silly rhetoric. When you come to fully grasp this reality, you will have no emotional attachment when listening to JW?s "protect" their belief system. It?s almost like being insulted by someone who is obviously mentally handicapped in some way. How can you really get upset or angry with such a person? You feel bad for them, that?s all. You must consider the source, ya know? Just give it time. Personally, I find it entertaining now when I hear some JW posturing their Watchtower rhetoric. It?s often even comical to me. The only time I take it seriously is when I see one trying to proselytize some unsuspecting victim. Then, I jump in with both feet and there?s no kidding around at that point. But otherwise, on a forum such as this? Nah. Any genuine JW coming to such a website as this and spouting JW "beliefs", is either not even a JW at all (a strange phenomenon) or they are questioning the Society and may not even realize it yet.
My mother is still held captive by the Watchtower Society and all its "ideologies". I used to get upset when she wouldn?t even talk to me or if she would she would come off so elitist and pious. But years ago I came to understand that the child can grow wiser and smarter than the parent can. For many years now, I have understood that I am now the parent, the wiser one, and my mother is acting as the child. Now, I can?t reach her because she is too far under the mind control of the Watchtower Society. That's just the way it is. It can be very difficult if not impossible for the child (regardless of age, I am now forty-eight) to ?instruct? the parent simply because of the way the relationship has naturally developed from the beginning. But honestly, I could care less now if she is a Jehovah?s? Witness, or a Buddhist or a Muslim or whatever. I am that detached from it. If your parents are JW?s and you have left the group, then this process of knowing you are right and they are wrong will take some time. But ultimately you will get there.
Please feel free to share your frustrations here on this forum. I have been frequenting this board for a few years now and places like this are a great source of comfort and even inspiration for the former or struggling (questioning) JW.
There are few bonds that create a closer relationship and kindredness of spirit like that for former JW?s. I?m sure this is true for other former cult members of other various groups as well.
